Bohunt School Careers Fair

Solent's Outside Broadcast Truck visited Bohunt School again on Tuesday for their annual careers fair. The event was extremely well attended by further and higher education providers as well as an impressive array of employers such as Ericsson Television and Virgin Media.

The Media Technology Programme was there with two systems cameras being mixed in the OB truck to allow pupils to see the engineering behind media operations. Its part of our program of STEM outreach activities designed to inspire the next generation of technologists and show them the range of exciting opportunities available within our field. There was great interest in the truck and operating the cameras with some very insightful questions from pupils and their parents. Generally attendees seemed surprised to hear about the interesting roles possible following an applied science degree such as those offered by Media Technology. Budding mathematicians and computer scientists were intrigued to learn of the key role that they could play in the future of media creation and distribution.

Third Year BSc (Hons) Television Production Technology student Lucas Roberts was on hand to discuss his educational journey as well as staff from the teaching and admissions teams. It was fantastic opening our world to such a bright and engaging audience. The students are clearly putting lot of thought into their next steps and we wish them well wherever their aspirations take them. We look forward to returning soon and thank Ginny and Bohunt for inviting us to such an inspirational evening.
