Electroacoustics with d&b audiotechnik
Media Technology students were off site again today, this time to visit d&b audiotechnik to learn about some of their electroacoustic technology. A cohort of staff and second year Live Sound Techniques students went to d&b’s UK headquarters to supplement their studies towards BSc (Hons) Live Sound Technology, BSc (Hons) Audio Engineering or BEng (Hons) Audio and Acoustic Engineering.
d&b are an established designer, manufacturer and integrator of audio reproduction solutions. Founded and based in Germany, they offer turnkey solutions as well as custom installations for events throughout the world.
The students covered part of d&b’s audio training programme including an insightful seminar on electroacoustics and got to see a range of the high-end tech that they lend and install for large-scale events. Second year Live Sound Technology student, Matt described the visit as “exciting and insightful”. It was also nice to catch up with former Media Technology lecturer Andrew Horsburgh, who is now in the education, application, and support team at d&b.
Thanks to d&b for hosting. The course team really value input from the industry and the students benefit from seeing how their studies apply to the real world. We look forward to catching up with d&b again in the near future.
