Learning with Creative Technology
Today Creative Technology, in partnership with NEP, hosted a student open day to show off the company and raise their profile amongst the student community. A handful of second and third year Media Technology students attended to learn about the latest technologies and the industry itself.
The day started with a presentation from the CEO of CT, describing the company, its ethos and goals. This was followed by presentations from Heads of all the departments within the company breaking down and explaining all roles within the company. After this, there was an opportunity to explore the two main facilities the CT have. The first one being their Video, Communications and Integrated Networks departments and the second being where their Sound and LED departments work. This was a brilliant part of the day – providing a great opportunity to network with individual members of the teams and discuss any aspect of their department or the technologies they oversee. All of the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming.
The two main parts that stood out at from the day were; the brand new D&B soundscape and the investment in IP technologies. It was amazing to finally experience the soundscape after reading lots about it and exciting to see how it will be implemented within the industry. It was really interesting to see the network packages they offer, the infrastructure they had designed, as well as speaking in depth with the head of Integrated Networking about the power and future of IP.
Overall, this was a brilliant day. All the students left extremely impressed by CT and the organisation of the open day. It felt like they wanted us to work for them and we were certainly left enthusiastic about their industry. It looks like there might be some tough completion for jobs in the future!
