Solent students join RISE Advisory Panel
Two students from Solent University have recently joined the RISE Advisory Panel, set up to encourage more women into the media technology industry.
Alice Mills and Lillie Fyfe, both studying Film and TV Technology at Solent will be helping to influence the education and assistance that is available to, young women at the start of their careers in broadcast.
Carrie Wootten, Managing Director of RISE said “Rise is absolutely delighted that Alice and Lillie are joining the Rise Advisory Board. It is absolutely vital that the industry engages with, supports and listens to young female talent to ensure we create and sustain a gender balanced workforce. Alice and Lillie's input into our work moving forwards will be essential for us to achieve this aim and we are really looking forward to working with them both.”
Polly Hickling, Course Leader for Media Technology at Solent said; “This is a great step towards improving diversity at an early point, i.e.. Before entry into industry and joining with such a great group of people who are all really keen to help improve the number of women entering the industry and staying there once they have entered. We are very grateful to Managing Director of RISE, Carrie, for this opportunity.”
Finally, Alice and Lillie said of their appointments; “We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work with Rise, and the inspiring women working in the industry onboard the project. We’re looking forward to learning and taking part in such an important organisation advocating for opportunities for women.”
