Intern Jade writes about her experience at Five by Five
First placement in the UK at Five by Five
Today, I will share my work experience at Five by Five with you! But first, let me tell you how I got this placement.
Everything started with my Digital PR unit, at Southampton Solent University. I worked with a group and we gave a pitch in front of Five by Five and Lee Peck Media, two PR agencies. It was both motivating and stressful, but it went really well! In the end, I won 'Best PR Student' and was offered placements. I couldn't believe my ears! It was one of the happiest moment of my uni life. :)
So, on the 8th of May, I started my placement at Five by Five, a PR agency specialised in launching brands, products or services.Â
I immediately loved the place and the atmosphere. When I arrived, I was welcomed by Naomi, Head of PR. She showed me around and gave me my first task: finding social media influencers in Hampshire. It was interesting to discover other bloggers and a good way to get into the swing of things.
Throughout my two weeks at Five by Five, I did various things such as:
- Writing case studies
- Writing a press release for CooperVision, a contact lens manufacturer
- Conducting research and gathering information
- Evaluating Festival Place, a regional Hampshire shopping centre, competitors’ strengths and weaknesses
- Looking for other agencies specialised in launching, as well as looking at their work and campaigns
I also attended meetings and was present at a presentation about new technologies and their use in PR campaigns.
Working at Five by Five has been an enriching experience that gave me the confirmation that PR is what I want to do. I would recommend carrying out work experience to anyone similar to me as it really has been so rewarding. Â
