Victorious Festival BTS video Blog

Portsmouth’s biggest music event of the year, kicked off in style with the Solent Production team touching down on Thursday last week ready to produce content over the three day weekend across two stages in the World Music Village. As a team our main responsibility was to capture video footage and photos of both the World Music stage and the Peoples Lounge, creating highlight videos each day alongside images for The World Music Village Instagram page, as well as a final highlight video of the whole weekend the following week.

 

When they say World Music they quite literally mean world music, starring acts from the Congo, India, and all around the UK, these bands showed us a variety of music and spoken word such as, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Funk, Soul, Reggae and Afro Beat. Additionally over on the Peoples Lounge the days would open with either a yoga session or Tai Chi.

 

After speaking to some of the crew about their experience at Victorious this is what they had to say: “Beautiful vibes, beautiful people, beautiful acts”, “an experience not to be missed!”. From my experience as the producer on the Solent University student team, I personally think that this has been a great chance for students of every year and all abilities to have a chance to create some great content for a real life client. As the videos were all made as post production videos, from footage and images created through out each day, it felt more relaxed to produce the final videos. With 4-5 crew members filming or photographing and 1-2 editing through out each day it allowed us plenty of time to create great content for the social media channels of our client and gather moire than enough footage for the final video.

 

Across the team back stage, our experience was at times fast paced, chaotic but exciting all at the same time. Although the clients brief only asked us to specifically cover 40 acts, in the end we captured images and videos from around 60 acts by the end of the weekend. Despite all of this organised chaos the team still had moments to go off and watch some headline acts on the main stages around the festival and get some down time to explore the World Music Village.

 

All in all the client were happy with our work and we as a team are far beyond exhausted, but on a high from the whole experience. Bring on Victorious 2024!
