With the expansion of media streaming for TV and mobile devices, and a strong film industry, the entertainment, marketing and advertising industries need highly skilled content producers – and at Solent you’ll have plenty of opportunities to practise your craft, growing both as a creative and as a media specialist.

Have you got a flair and passion for telling visual stories? We offer access to a huge range of professional-grade kit including TV studios with high-quality cameras, lighting and live video mixing, cinema cameras and lenses, professional lighting, and more.

Our courses offer real, meaningful work opportunities and experience. Through Solent Productions and Solent Creatives, you get the chance to work with clients on live briefs and projects. You could be filming sporting events, live-streaming at festivals or producing for social media.

Our students have a track record of producing award-winning and broadcast-quality work, with recent graduates working for companies such as Warner Brothers and Endemol in various roles on both big blockbusters and primetime television.

With previous guest speakers such as actor Maisie Williams, editor Tom Rolf, director Michael Apted, cinematographer Brian Tufano and Oscar-winning visual effects specialist Paul Franklin, and an academic team with strong industry experience, you will be guided by a network of professionals to take your ideas to the next level.

Facilities

Students on this course have access to three high-definition TV studios, with the largest capable of seating an audience of 200 people and running up to ten cameras.

Students will also have access to Solent’s 3D digital cinema with Dolby Atmos sound, over 80 networked edit workstations for post-production sound, colour-grading suites, a range of high-end cameras shooting in HD and 4K – including Arri Alexa, Sony, Canon and BlackMagic cameras – as well as a vast array of photography and cine lenses.
