Already been to an open day? Find out why you should take another visit to your chosen uni in this week's article.
Many universities provide taster days, applicant days or experience days, for you to come to the university and get a real feel for the course you are applying to.
Applicant days are usually only for students who have applied to that university, so interactive taster sessions are organised specific to the course you have applied to.
Alongside this will also be general open day talks and activities, so you might be asking, why should I go to this if I have already come to an open day? Because there are lots of good reasons to visit a campus again, even if you have already been to an open day - that's why!
Firstly, taster days are fun! You might have a go at making a music masterpiece, get behind the camera in a high-tech TV studio, work in a lab on an exciting experiment, or even experience life saving techniques as a nurse.
You can also test out equipment, get an insight into lectures and seminars and maybe meet your future classmates!
Whatever you do, it can be inspiring and give you a taste of not only what it's like as a student, but also what you might be doing in your future career. Coming back to the campus is a great way to feel certain you're making the right decision for you and your future. It gives you more time to consider your options - during open day season, you may have visited lots of campuses, and it becomes a bit of a blur! So having some more time to think about your choice can help you make that big decision. You can learn more about responding to your offers here.
It also gives you an opportunity to ask questions you may have thought of after your initial visit. Wondering about the benefit of an open day? Check out our 11 ways to get the most out of an open day.
When you visit a uni, you can ask questions to support staff about student finance, admissions and more. You can also talk to academics and students about your course and life as a student. And if you didn’t manage to get to an open day before, it’s a great opportunity to visit the campus for the first time and get an even more tailored experience.
