If you're applying for uni, you're going to hear about UCAS a lot over the next few months. If this is new to you, or even if it isn't, our guide explains what UCAS is and how it can help you.

UCAS will then send your applications to your selected universities, who will consider and send you a decision based on the information you have provided. The status of your applications can also be found on the UCAS Hub.
The UCAS website is a fantastic resource for researching universities and comparing courses – but also offers a whole range of impartial advice and support about going to university, including:
UCAS also hold events throughout the year where you can speak to the universities you think you are interested in applying to. During the events, university representatives will be happy to talk to you about your options, different types of course and what they can offer you.
The registration process is quick and easy, and only takes about 15 minutes. All you need at this stage is your personal details. If you’re applying through school or college, you'll also need your buzzword.
Before you can send UCAS your application, you'll need to pay an application fee of £28.50 for up to five choices for 2025 entry. If you have received free school meals at any point over the last six years, you can apply to have your application fee waived. Find out more here.
