Clearing 2024 is now open

Applying to Solent through UCAS ExtraYou can still apply to Solent - even if you've already submitted your UCAS application - through UCAS Extra

What is UCAS Extra?

Extra allows you to apply for places on courses after the January UCAS deadline – perfect if you’ve changed your mind about where or what you want to study, or if you didn’t get the offer(s) you wanted.

If you used all five choices on your UCAS application but haven’t had any offers, or you’ve chosen to decline any offers you’ve had, you can use Extra to apply for more courses.

You don’t need to register – you’ll see an ‘Add Extra Choice’ button in the choices section of your UCAS tracking page if you’re eligible.

If you didn’t use all five choices in your original application, you don’t need to use Extra, you can just sign into your application and add another choice, as long as it’s before 30 June and you’ve not accepted or declined any offers.

When does Extra open?

Extra opens on 28 February. You have until 4 July to make your choices.

How does it work?

You apply for one course at a time. If you don’t receive an offer or decide to decline that offer, you can choose another course.

Find the course you want to apply for on the UCAS website:

  • Use the filter ‘Show courses with vacancies’ in the UCAS search tool.
  • Contact the university to check if they’ll consider you.

Apply for the new course:

  • Add the details to your application.

The university will consider your application. If you haven’t heard back after 21 days, you can choose to either continue to wait, or add a new choice:

  • If you receive an offer, reply to it and, subject to meeting entry requirements, you’re in.
  • If you receive an offer but don’t want to accept it, you can decline it.
  • If you’re not offered a place, you can search for other courses and add another Extra choice.

What next?

If you receive an from the university, you just need to accept it on your application. If you accept the offer, you won't be able to apply to any more in Extra.

Make sure you reply to the offer by the date shown on your homepage, or your offer will be declined automatically.

If you've still got questions, there's more information on the UCAS website.
