Photography darkrooms
Analogue darkroom comprising hand and machine film processing, black and white print enlargement, and individual colour enlargement booths.

About the photography darkrooms
Our photographic darkroom is a purpose built analogue negative to print facility.
Students can process their black and white and colour films, from 35mm to large format. We offer hand processing for black and white using Patterson tanks and a Colenta processing machine for colour C41.
Once processed, students can use either the black and white darkroom to produce stunning chemical-based coated or fibre prints, or the colour darkroom to make enlargements up to 30 inches wide.
There is also a dedicated area for a variety of alternative processes including cyanotypes, wet collodion and liquid emulsion.
The darkroom print finish area has cutting and mounting equipment suitable for a range of presentation and display options, as well as benefiting from lots of natural light, perfect for print viewing.
