Psychology facilities

Purpose built laboratories and research rooms equipped with industry standard resources for gathering data.

About the psychology facilities

Our psychology laboratory consists of five purpose-built research rooms in various sizes to suit anything from individual participant research to focus groups. Generally, these rooms are used for research activities, student dissertation projects, teaching, and consultancy. These rooms allow psychology students to collect data from human participants using the same resources as professional psychologists.

Alongside the research rooms, students will also have access to our psychology research lab computer suite which is used for teaching and is also ideal for collaborative student projects, as well as our observational laboratory which is also used for teaching but can be used for observation-based projects.

Away from spatial resources, students can expect access to equipment and software to aid research. Equipment including, but not limited to, BIOPAC consoles, which allow for physiological measurements and virtual reality environments; and adult intelligence scales to interview recording basics. All computers available in the psychology labs are equipped with software to allow the design and distribution of surveys, designing stimulus response assessments, and a library of existing psychological measures available for use.

Access to such a wide range of facilities and equipment allows students to experience the full breadth of psychology and the different types of methods, analysis and psychological research they will encounter.
