Monica Basie, a student nurse at Solent University, has been selected by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care System to represent nursing students on their student council.
Monica Basie, a second-year student nurse on BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing Practice, has secured a place on the new student council which has been set up for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care System (HIoWICS).
Monica will work alongside students and apprentices from other professions, staff from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board, HEIs, and care provider organisations within the integrated board system. She will also have the opportunity to contribute to regional projects and meetings. On securing the role, she said, "Supporting students means providing them with the information and encouragement they need to succeed academically, emotionally, and socially. As a nursing student, I must support my other colleagues because we represent the future, and by empowering them, I contribute to the growth of future nursing."
Karen Hawksworth, course leader on BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing Practice said, “We’re all very proud of Monica for being selected for this role in representing nursing students. She’s an exceptional student and we’re in no doubt that her contributions will be valued by both students and professionals to help shape the future of nursing.”
BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing Practice is one of our popular health and nursing degrees here at Solent, with students benefiting from our state-of-the-art Human Health Lab, including a replica real-world medical ward.
