Solent University celebrates Black History Month in Southampton this October with a series of events marking the city's black community's contributions and achievements. The theme "Celebrating Our Sisters" emphasizes black women's vital role in shaping history, inspiring change, and building communities.
Our Widening Participation Team will be appearing at the Southampton Black History Month 2023 Launch at the St. Mary's Fire Station (11am - 2pm).
Through the lens of heritage, the event will embrace the cultural legacies that have shaped black communities around the world. Led by Solent honorary doctorate Don John, the event features a keynote from Louise Goux-Wirth, an award-winning equality specialist and a performance from Alfo the Poet.
