At the 2024 Graduate Fashion Week (GFW), Jennifer Harriman, a BA (Hons) Fashion and Beauty Media third-year student, has been named the winner of the coveted Fashion Marketing Award.
Recognised for her innovative approach to marketing in fashion, Jennifer is one of a handful of students from across the UK to come out as a winner during GFW, signaling exciting things to come.
With a passion for social media marketing, which Jennifer discovered during her time at Solent, the graduating student credits her course for helping her to establish a skillset in content creation and marketing strategy, saying:
“My course at Solent has truly prepared me for industry work; I’ve been given a great deal of skills that I can transfer into my future job roles. Live briefs have prepared me for the sort of projects I’ll be faced with when moving into my future career, and the support from lecturers has been unwavering and very much appreciated.
“I’m so grateful for my experience at Solent, and all that I have gained from it.”
For Jennifer’s Final Major Project, she created Nolie, a skincare brand for adolescents that capitalises on a gap in the market and leans into it with an aspirational answer. Celebrating coming-of-age and boosting representation for ‘tweens’, Jennifer’s Nolie project celebrates young people and seeks to inspire confidence among them. It was this campaign that impressed GFW judges and led to Jennifer being crowned the 2024 Fashion Marketing winner.
The biggest celebration of graduating students both in the UK and nationally, GFW showcases the next generation of creative talent who are set to enter the fashion and beauty industry after graduation.
Committed to arming students with practical, real-world skills that lead to meaningful careers, Solent’s creative courses blend traditional teaching methods with hands-on experience that boosts students’ portfolios and CVs.
Rachel Lamb, Solent’s Course Leader Fashion Media and Beauty Promotion, says:
“We are delighted Jennifer’s hard work and brilliant project, Nolie, has been recognised with this award. Her research on Generation Alpha impressed the judges and offers beauty brands a real insight into the next wave of skincare consumers.”
As a GFW winner, Jennifer has another platform from which to showcase her skills, as she prepares to graduate alongside more than 2,000 students from Solent in July.
