Professor David Croisdale-Appleby OBE, a leader in shaping the future of healthcare and social care for the UK, has been awarded an Honorary Doctor of Human Science

On hearing of his award David said: “I am deeply honoured to receive this award from this splendid, modern university which encourages its students about how to think rather than what to think, encouraging originality of thought but always building on a foundation of values about responsible citizenship in the modern world.”

Professor Croisdale-Appleby is the current Chair of the Royal College of Physicians; Healthwatch England; Dementia UK, which provides the Admiral Nurse Service for people with dementia and their carers; and Chair of the Public Health and the Social Care Advisory Committees at the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) - where he has led the development of a number of national guidelines covering public health, social care and education. He is a non-executive director of the Care Quality Commission (CQC), and until recently also the non-executive director lead for medical and clinical education and quality at Health Education England.
