This National Apprenticeship Week, Southampton Solent University is launching its news range of online apprenticeships, designed to break down barriers to higher education and encourage more people to experience the benefits of becoming an apprentice.
Two brand-new online courses, Operations Manager and Associate Project Manager, are now open for application. Following more than £150,000 of funding from the Office for Students to fund the development of a new online degree aimed at professionals with some experience who want to take the next step in their career, Solent University is also preparing to launch the Chartered Manager Degree Level Apprenticeship, which will be delivered online.
Offering high levels of flexibility, online apprenticeships are a great way for students to access higher education on their own terms while still receiving the highest standard of learning and teaching. These courses also benefit employers, enabling apprentices to continue working while learning, minimising disruption to the workforce and giving apprentices the opportunity to immediately apply what they've learned to their role.
All three courses are designed to equip apprentices with the tools they need to excel in management across a range of sectors. Helping to create future leaders, these apprenticeships offer a virtual learning environment which emulates in-person learning to give apprentices everything they need to hit the ground running in their careers.
Aimed at early-career individuals and mature learners alike, these new courses give apprentices the specialist skills employers are seeking. Professor Cathy Barnes, Solent University's Pro Vice-Chancellor Research, Academic Strategy and Planning, says:
"Apprenticeships are a fantastic pathway for anyone wanting to blend work-based experiences with their students. Providing employers with a route for upskilling staff while growing their output, degree and higher apprenticeships at Solent cover a diverse range of subjects, including construction and healthcare, which are essential industries in need of skilled employees. It's at universities like Solent that these skills are acquired, boosting industries both now and in the future.
"Introducing online apprenticeships is a natural progression of our high-quality offering, removing access issues and ensuring higher education meets individual needs while delivering on the skills our businesses seek."
With flexible start dates, all three online apprenticeships are now open for applications. Find out more here.
