The 2024 National Student Survey (NSS), which represents the voice of almost half a million students in the UK, indicates that Solent University, Southampton is among some of the best universities in the country for student satisfaction in the subjects of architecture, building and planning.

Collating student's views during the final year of their course, NSS offers an important glimpse into the experiences of undergraduates in the UK, helping to shape the development of courses in line with student opinion.

In six of nine main themes, building courses at Solent ranked in the top 25% nationally, including a 100% positive response in academic support and wellbeing.

Solent's Head of Science and Engineering, Sarah Radif, says: "We are thrilled with the excellent NSS results achieved this year by our BA (Hons) Architectural Design and Technology and BSc (Hons) Construction Management courses. I am particularly pleased that our students are happy with the education they receive at Solent and appreciate the value it adds to their career prospects.

"It takes a dedicated team of academic tutors, technical staff, professional services and fantastic facilities to deliver an outstanding student experience. I am therefore delighted that our students recognise the hard work that goes on in the learning environment as well as behind the scenes to ensure that they have the best time at Solent, academically and personally."

Final year Architectural Design Technology students were unanimous in their feeling that Solent encourages freedom of expression while they learn, with a 100% positive response rate.

MSc Sustainable Building Design graduate, Anthony Khoueiry, says: "Ever since graduating from Solent University, I've been actively involved in the field of architecture and design.

"My studies have played a crucial role in preparing me for my architectural career in the real world. My course helped me fill the gap between all the theoretical knowledge and the practical application of creative design ideas in the job market."
