Fashion designer, Jenny Packham, joins the growing list of ambassadors for Southampton's UK City of Culture 2025 bid
Solent University has endorsed our support for Southampton’s bid to become UK City of Culture 2025 by signing up to become official partners. As a partner, our alumni community of over 75,000 former students and honorary graduates are playing a key role in the bid through becoming ambassadors.
Jenny Packham, the fashion designer, is known primarily for her bridal gowns. Alumnae and Honorary Doctor of Design, Jenny Packham, has added glitz and glamour to red carpets around the world. Her career in fashion has gone seamlessly well, and her creations are worn by A-listers and royalty alike.
Jenny has dressed some of Hollywood’s biggest names – including Kate Winslet, Angelina Jolie and Kiera Knightly – in her stunning floor-length creations that never disappoint the crowds, but her most important client is the Duchess of Cambridge.
On receiving her honorary doctorate from Solent in 2008, she told students wanting a career in fashion: “Being successful in this field is all about being determined, not giving up, and trusting your instincts.”
Previously announced ambassadors Craig David and Lawrie McMenemy MBE are both honorary graduates of Solent University.
