Situated in the Department of Sport and Health, the Sports Education Partnership programme supports numerous degree pathways. We work closely with both course and module leaders to ensure that our programme continues to match the demands of the student population.

Here at Solent you will be provided with a first-class education, but if you really want to stand out from the crowd then enhancing your CV through volunteering and additional Continuous Professional Development (CPD) with us is the way forward.

The Sport Education Partnership will support you in gaining a variety of real-world learning opportunities that will enhance your career potential following the completion of your degree. The team are on hand to provide you with advice and guidance on the most suitable programme and how this can support you in your academic studies.

Services that are currently available include:

  • Sport and Health related CPD
  • Local school engagement opportunities
  • School Games competitions and event support
  • School placement support

Students who have engaged with these opportunities in the past have found them to be highly rewarding, and has provided them with the opportunity to put their academic understanding into practice.

“Firstly, I was fortunate enough to be offered a paid role at a local primary school leading their football after-school club which continued throughout my 2nd and 3rd year at University. This led to even more experience in a school environment than my course was already offering.

Secondly, I worked as part of a coaching team to deliver sports activities for the local community and schools. This included running sports days for the school, PE lessons and fun activities using inflatable equipment.

I chose to do this because it gave me extra experience within a school environment, working with different children and communicating with school staff to deliver what they wanted.

I am due to start my teacher training to become a PE teacher in September, so these added value experiences had a positive effect on my career pathway”.
