Solent University is accredited by the ground-breaking Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) dual career scheme.
Solent University is one of only 40 universities in the UK who are a dual-career-accredited site. This is formal recognition of the University’s commitment to support student-athletes in reaching their potential in education, alongside achieving success in their sport.
As a dual-career-accredited site, Solent receives continuous training and resources to equip student athletes with practical dual career support and bring together all parties who work with the athlete. The dual career support structure and academic flexibility policies that Solent University is committed to are central to the help available to athletes based at an accredited site. This includes opportunities to access online notes or resources, ability to arrange catch-up sessions with teaching staff, or even reschedule deadlines or exam dates in exceptional circumstances. Student athletes also receive a private medical scheme, physiotherapy, nutrition, lifestyle support, psychology, and strength and conditioning services.
About TASS
TASS is part of the SportsAid family funded by the National Lottery, through Sport England, with a brief to help young sportspeople juggle the demands of sport and education.
Since 2004 TASS has supported more than 6,000 sportspeople - enabling talented student-athletes across the country to fulfil their academic and sporting potential.
TASS is recognised globally as a leader in ‘dual career’ and has worked with and advised bodies as diverse as the International Olympic Committee, European Union, and many government and sporting organisations.
Solent University is proud to form this important network of institutions that partner with TASS, delivering core support services to more than 600 student-athletes each year.
