Biography
Amy is a lecturer in criminology in the Department of Social Sciences and Nursing. Amy holds a PhD from Kingston University which examined challenges to ubuntu and social cohesion in South Africa. Before joining Solent, she taught across further and higher education in the disciplines of criminology, sociology and English literature.
Research interests
Amy’s research and teaching intersects across criminology, gender studies, literature and sociology. Her key research interests are in decolonial and postcolonial studies, gender and sexuality, narrative and southern African literature, and ubuntu as a uniquely southern African worldview and model of justice.

Amy teaches across Level 4, 5 and 6. Her teaching includes gender, sexuality and crime, introduction to criminological theory, research methods, study skills and victimology.
