Brendan Johnson

Biography

Brendan is an associate lecturer in Popular Music Performance and Popular Music Performance and Production. All first-study guitarists have their weekly instrumental lessons with him, and he lectures in music workshops too.

Since graduating from Solent University in 2014, Brendan was put forward for various opportunities, eventually leading to tour band leading roles for The Voice, Shayne Ward (X-Factor winner), West End star, Ryan Molloy, and Bucks Fizz.

The balance between being a teacher and a practitioner means Brendan is always up to date with the music business through his own work and adjusts his teaching approach to best prepare students for the industry.

Some of Brendan’s other previous experiences includes teaching guitar at Coda Music Centre, freelancing in transcription work, recording sessions for clients including Red Triangle Productions, and running function bands for Tailored Entertainment. Brendan has also been playing for up and coming artist LST, who has been busy on the festival circuit; and BBC introducing sessions, having also supported Jamie Cullum, Akala, Kano, P Money, Wretch 32, Devlin and many more.
