Biography
Can joined Solent University in March 2024. He is a senior lecturer in fire and maritime safety.
After graduating as a marine transportation engineer in 2010, Can gained five years seagoing experience - he started his sea career on crude oil tankers working as a chief officer. He also has experience on bulk carriers and ro-ro vessels.
Before starting at Warsash Maritime School, Can was a lecturer in two universities for six years.
He has completed a master's degree in maritime business management and is currently doing his PhD thesis in marine transportation engineering. Can holds an IMO Model Course 6.09 Training Course for Instructors certificate and a STCW Marine Safety Instructors Training certificate.
Further information
Can has worked on crude oil tankers, bulk carriers and ro-ro vessels. He also has experience with SIRE, Rightship, flag state, port state, and class and cargo inspections.
