Biography
Jonathan is an artist and art historian whose practice focusses on the intersection of politics, aesthetics and history.
His major field of research is the print culture of sixteenth century Germany with particular interest in the depiction of peasants in radical and ephemeral prints. His latest book chapter, “The Sword in the Ragged Sheath: The Motif of the Peasant Radical in Sixteenth-Century Prints” was published in April 2023.
Recent art projects include After the Rain with Jamie Dyson (2022) which was shown at Palace Church, Norwich, and an opera for robots - V.D.M.I.Æ. – that was shown in various locations (2016-20).
He is a member of Solent's Art, Environment, and Social Change research group.
