MA Make-up and Hair Design Futures
Explore the rapidly evolving field of designing for future bodies, beauty cultures and creature design using speculative design strategies and augmented realities
Lecturer
Department of Art and Music
Lottie is a qualified hairdresser and make-up artist with a strong art and design practice background, and has worked as a freelance make-up and hair artist for over 20 years.
Skilled in theatre, wig work, fashion shows, promotional shoots and photography, she has also collaborated with a number of artists on creative projects where the work has been exhibited nationally and internationally.
Since joining the make-up and hair design programme at Solent University, Lottie's studio-based teaching delivery, coupled with industry experience, has focused on providing critical debate within art and design practice, in addition to offering externally-set ‘live’ projects that extend student knowledge and understanding of commercial and professional practice.
In 2018, Lottie completed her MA Visual Communication and is currently developing a series of projects that push the boundaries of our visual and material culture through artefacts intended for aesthetic contemplation, embodying a narrative that is informed by the discipline of make-up and hair design.
Lottie has worked extensively with Mayflower Theatre, Nuffield Theatre and touring theatre companies. She has also worked on fashion shows, including Graduate Fashion Week, and Face of Innovation Dow Project, Dusseldorf.
