Educated to a master’s level with a first-degree in Health and Community Development, Meg has worked in the NHS for 20 years. She started her career as a health care support worker before qualifying as a registered general nurse in 2006. Meg completed a PG Diploma in Advanced Practice at the University of Southampton and is a Nurse Independent Prescriber registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Meg is passionate about teaching; she is part of the post graduate teaching team who deliver the history taking and physical assessment as well as independent and supplementary prescribing modules among others.
Meg has a wealth of post qualifying experience in both the acute and primary care setting. She has worked in a variety of roles including acute medicine, intensive care and in recent years in primary care and primary care at scale. Meg is fastidious at history taking and physical assessment and, alongside her role at the university, she continues to work clinically as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in a primary care setting,
Meg has experience of leadership and management in the NHS and has worked at a strategic level, responsible for the design, development and leadership of a variety of primary care services at scale. During the pandemic, Meg helped to lead complex multi-service collaborations, and enjoys driving and promoting change which is focused, safe and effective, but always has the patient at its heart.
