Owen Davies is a lecturer in cadet education (engineering). Owen joined Solent university in June 2023, having taught marine engineering and electrical at Bournemouth and Poole college from October 2018 until joining Solent. He held the role of lecturer and lead IQA in his previous post, helping to deliver to Level 1 to Level 3 full-time students and apprentices.
Owen is also an approved trainer of the BMET and MEI on behalf of the British Marine Federation and an independent end-point assessor for the Marine Engineering and Marine Electrical apprenticeship standard.
Owen was a cadet at Warsash Maritime Academy, completing his foundation degree with a distinction and is now working towards topping this up to a bachelor's degree. Owen has a passion for developing new teaching methods including the development and utilisation of 3D modelling software. He acts as one of the phase 1 cadets, helping them to understand life as a cadet and supporting them in their first phase on the cadet program.
Owen completed his cadetship with Condor Ferries before working with Marine Scotland and Hanson. He then came shoreside working with Ocean Yacht Systems and Breathe Safety before venturing into a career in teaching.
