During this time, he covered several Olympic Games, FIFA World Cups, Rugby World Cups, Asian Games, Asian Cups, eight Masters golf tournaments, as well as 13 consecutive Africa Cup of Nations competitions.
He moved into the higher education sector in 2015. During this time, he has taught a range of modules, both practical and theoretical. He is the Level 2 tutor, responsible for the pastoral care of the second year sports journalism students. He has conceptualised, developed and introduced two modules: Literary Sports Journalism is taught as an option and has been running since first attracting students in 2017; Transferable Journalism has been adapted as a integral part of a core unit. He teaches both modules.
Peter’s research interests include the politics and sociology of sports, in particular football, as well as human rights and the criminal justice system, with a special focus on the US and Apartheid South Africa. Through his involvement with the University of Johannesburg and the University of Vic, he has attempted to foster trans-national university relationships.
