Biography
Dr Yifan Wang joined Solent University in July 2020 as a lecturer in engineering. Previously, he was a postdoctoral researcher for the EU research project, Implementation of Ship Hybridisation (ISHY) to investigate the potential of decarbonising ships in the EU region from the perspectives of ship design optimisation and fuel switching.
Yifan has experience in naval architecture, shipping management, sustainable shipping, low-emission energy systems, and oil and alternative energy market analysis.
His research is currently looking into including low-carbon ship/energy system design, development of lifecycle models to evaluate the performance of alternative fuel-powered ships, fuel bunkering management strategy and bunkering port selection, fuel bunking costs and freight revenue optimisation and the whole supply route performance estimation for sustainable marine energy systems of the future.
Further information
Yifan contributes to a number of courses with a particular focus on ship decarbonisation, alternative marine system, ship structural analysis, propulsion and resistance evaluation, multi-criteria decision making, and life cycle thinking.
