Don Iro

Experience

Born in Nigeria, Don Iro arrived in the UK, and at Solent University, in 2004 as an international student, where he studied, and graduated with, a BEng (Hons) Electronic Engineering, in 2008.

In 2019, he was appointed independent governor for the University.

Don is an entrepreneur, turnaround executive and board level business leader. Industries Don has worked and invested in are digital and IT services, and supply chain and logistics.

He has served in multiple senior roles within the private and public sectors spanning the UK, Asia, Middle East, and Africa in large corporations as well as SMEs.

In 2022, Don was appointed a non-executive director for Ashford & St Peter's NHS Foundation Trust, where he also chairs its Integrated Digital Committee.

In 2021 he was elected Councillor for Bishops Waltham Council, and currently serves as vice-chair of the council, and chair of the Finance, Policy and Resources Committee.

He also serves as a member of the Forces Strategic Independent Advisory Group (FSIAG) and recently chair for the Custody Scrutiny Panel for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police.

Don is an active supporter for diversity and inclusion in the workplace and community and provides mentorship on business, strategy, delivery, and leadership.
