Role at Solent
Fay joined Southampton Solent University's Board of Governors as an independent governor in October 2024.
Experience
Fay is a specialist in corporate communications, engagement, and transformation. Her career has taken her around the world, working in oil and gas, insurance, shipping, heavy engineering, construction, local and central government, and the NHS.
Currently heading up national workforce engagement for NHS England, Fay leads the central approach to staff retention policy, wellbeing, EDI, training, and education for 1.3m staff, from apprentices to non-executives across all seven English regions and 42 integrated care boards (ICBs). She held the role through Covid, building the national wellbeing response for NHS staff throughout the pandemic. Recently, she has led the restructuring and is now delivering the workforce element of the Government’s new NHS 10-year workforce plan.
Outside of the NHS, Fay runs her own communications agency and works as a successful non exec for a range of organisations, including Solent Mind, Healthwatch, Citizens' Advice and Mayfield Nurseries. Recently, she has worked for the London Design Council as an independent employee wellbeing adviser to various businesses including Transport for London and a new business enterprise zone in south east London, supporting the leadership team to design their strategy supporting 42 local businesses on their retention and wellbeing approach.
She has been elected into various chair roles for CIC and patient panels for major London teaching hospitals.
