Role at Solent

Francesca is Associate Head (Research, Innovation & Education) in Solent's Department of Sport and Health and the course leader for BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science. She teaches across multiple courses, specialising in sport psychology.

Francesca was nominated for the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Student Experience in 2022. She is part of the Research Culture working group, is a senior fellow of the HEA, and completed the HEA Aurora programme in 2022. Francesca created the ABIDE (Awareness of Belonging, Inclusivity, Diversity and Equality) staff and student working group and is working with other course leaders to develop similar initiatives.

Francesca’s current research focuses on reflective practice and exploring research cultures within practitioners. Alongside teaching and research, Francesca has worked with various athletes, teams and organisations, providing psychological support for university athletes and many local athletes and teams.

Francesca completed her undergraduate degree and PhD at the University of Exeter and has worked at Solent University since 2013.
