Board of Governors

Jennifer Glastonbury

Role

Jennifer joined the Board of Governors in August 2016, and is currently a member of the Resources Committee.

Experience

Born in Southampton, Jennifer graduated from London University with a modern languages degree. After working at the think-tank Chatham House and as a researcher at Nuffield College, Oxford, she went on to work at the BBC, ending as a senior editor in multimedia foreign news.

In parallel with her BBC career, Jennifer held board appointments in the NHS, including as Chair of a local research ethics committee and Vice-Chair of a Berkshire trust; she also served lengthy terms as lay member at the Faculty of Public Health, where her role focused on exam development, and as Chair of the Aldershot-based healthy living charity RHL.

She is keenly interested in higher education and before coming to Solent was on the governing bodies of two other universities, Royal Holloway and Bedford New College (RHBNC), where she was elected to the Council by college alumni, and the University for the Creative Arts (UCA). She served actively on the key board committees in both and had a strong presence at events involving students and stakeholders. In 2014 she was made an honorary fellow of RHBNC.

Jennifer enjoys travel, textiles and art.
