Results day is coming up! You might have a mixture of feelings - from excitement to anxiety. We’ve outlined what to expect and tips to help you through.
Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) will give out their results on Tuesday 5 August 2025.
A-level results day is Thursday 14 August 2025.
You're going to have to make sure that you're available on results day, just in case. If you're on holiday, hopefully you'll be somewhere with internet access in case you need to log in to your UCAS Track account. If you're not able to access the internet, you can nominate someone to make those changes for you.
Some of the changes are time sensitive, so if you're not easily contactable, make sure you've given them a brief about what they will need to do on your behalf.
Make sure you enter their details in the nominated access section of your application before you go away, then they will be able to talk to UCAS about your application.
If you think there's a chance you didn't do as well as you hoped, that doesn't mean you can't go to university. Check out our Ultimate guide to Clearing, for all the Clearing information you need.
Also, have a look at other universities for some different courses and options. You may even spot something you didn't think about applying for. Most universities started advertising their Clearing courses at the start of July, so you should be able to find out which ones you can apply for.
Whether you’re expecting good or bad news, it’s a good idea to be prepared on results day. Here’s what you should do to get ready:
If there’s a knot in your stomach that feels like it’s getting tighter and tighter as results day looms, don’t worry – you’re not alone, and there are things you can do to help. Have a read through this article by the Complete University Guide for some tips on managing mental health.
Ultimately, the most important thing to remember is you've done your best and there WILL be options open to you, whatever happens.
If that doesn’t help, try writing a list of the things you can and can’t control on a bit of paper. Once you’ve done this, tear up the things you can’t change, and use what’s left to make a plan of action.
You can’t control what your results will be, so try and be ready by looking after yourself, so you can fresh and clear on results day.
