Our pre-sessional English programme is tailored to help international students enhance their academic and English language skills before starting their undergraduate and postgraduate studies at Solent University.
This intensive course includes:

In-sessional English courses
To help you succeed in your academic studies, we have a team of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) tutors who can help you develop your academic language and skills while you study for your degree.
The course covers topics such as:
- Expanding your vocabulary and grammatical knowledge.
- Increasing language fluency and accuracy.
- Enhancing communication skills.
- Fostering independent learning.
- Developing presentation, research and interpersonal skills.
Programme overview
The first five weeks of the programme focus on the key skills needed in academic writing. While the primary focus will be on essays, the principles you'll learn also apply to reports and dissertations.
In the final two weeks, the focus shifts to spoken communication skills, especially for students looking to improve fluency, clarity, and accuracy in their speech. These sessions will offer plenty of opportunities for group discussions on a variety of topics.
