Entry requirements
As a general guide, we look for qualifications that are equivalent to the British high school A-levels. A portfolio is also required for most of our art and design courses.
To be considered for entry to a foundation year (year 0 of a foundation year), students should hold the Standard XII with 50% or above.
For postgraduate courses, we look for qualifications that are equivalent to the British bachelor's degree. Students should hold a bachelor's degree, minimum 2nd division.
English language requirements
In addition to your academic entry requirements, you will also need to achieve our English language entry requirements to join us here at Solent University.
IELTS is the most accepted English language qualification for programmes at Solent and there are multiple test centres throughout South Asia, operated by the British Council. We accept UKVI or Academic IELTS. The test must not be older than 2 years.
We also accept TOEFL IBT and Duolingo.
- IELTS 5.5 overall with a minimum of 5.0 in each individual component

Pre-sessional English programme
The University also offers a pre-sessional English programme for international students who wish to improve their level of English before starting a degree course.
Qualifications are checked before enrolment, and international students must bring their original certificates or certified copies when coming to study at the University.
Visa information
As an Indian national, you will need to apply for a visa to come and study in the UK. When you have met all the conditions of entry for a full-time course at Solent University (including payment of deposit and course acceptance), you will be sent a Certificate of Acceptance for Study (CAS) number. You will need this document to apply for a student visa.
You should make your application for a visa at the local visa application centre.
