MA students design to go on display in Sports Complex

Students from MA Visual Communication at Solent recently had the opportunity to enter a competition to have their mural design on display in the Solent Sports Complex. We caught up with the winning student, Alisha Hutchinson who shared more about her design, and how it feels to win.

Hi Alisha, tell us a bit about the piece you created:
After reading the brief, which was to design a mural about teaching and sport at Solent, I began by researching the sports complex and sport at Solent. Something which stood out to me, was the team environment and the many different sports which are available. I wanted to capture this in my design, I decided to create a piece which highlighted the variety of sports at Solent, then using lines to link the sports together, emphasising the team environment and creating a sense of movement. To strengthen this, I added some words which I felt highlighted teaching and sports, as well as being part of a team. Also, adding the words with the lines, so that the design flows across the two walls, so that it bold and eye catching in the sports complex.

How does it feel to have your work selected to go on display?
It feels great to have my work go up in the sports complex, I'm really happy about it, and I can't wait to see it in the building. I have also been chosen to work on another wall in the complex, with some of the sports students, I am really looking forward to this.
