Panel: screening sexual violence
Mon 11 November
On-campus
4 November 2024
Join Associate Professor, Dr Donna Peberdy, and mark the start of 16 Days 16 Films this November.
Since April 2023, Dr Peberdy has been undertaking research funded by the prestigious British Academy, looking at the way gender-based violence is portrayed in film.
As part of her research, Dr Peberdy has created an online educational resource to help grow understanding of screen representations of sexual violence against women and girls, and how film could play a role in improving public understanding. This resource has been created in association with 16 Days 16 Films, an initiative which empowers female filmmakers while campaigning to end violence against women.
Now, staff and students and the wider community are invited to attend this special event - taking place on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women - and be the first to preview Dr Peberdy's resource before it's made more widely available.
Refreshments will be available during the event, and you will be able to find out how to get involved in activities taking place across 16 Days of Activism, which runs from Monday 25 November to Tuesday 10 December.Â
Please note: all attendees must RSVP in advance via the booking link.
