Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer at UK Elite Sports Group (UKESG) receives honorary award

Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer at UK Elite Sports Group (UKESG) and Global Head of Special Projects at India Business Group (IBG), Lakbir Singh, has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship from Solent University, Southampton today (Thursday 13 July).

A business leader with extensive partnership development experience spanning over 25 years, Lakbir Singh works with public and private sector organisations in the UK, India and globally, providing business intelligence and operational strategies to nurture businesses opportunities, with a focus on education and sports sectors.

Lakbir said: “It is a tremendous honour to receive this Honorary Fellowship from Solent University, for which I am truly humbled. I am passionate about what I do, and of the wider positive impact generated for our students, colleagues, enterprises and communities. I am a firm believer in delivering results with the highest standard of honesty, dignity and integrity. I remain committed to selfless service to our society, a trait I have gracefully inherited from my late grandfather, Mr Harnam Singh, who dedicated his life to championing education and entrepreneurship in local communities, and in leading the positive change we wish to see in the world”.

He has facilitated collaborations and projects for a variety of stakeholders, including industry, policy makers, academics, celebrities, government agencies and other partner organisations.

As an advisory board member with Solent University’s Department of Business and Law, Lakbir provides analysis and insights on local levelling up, student connectivity with industry and supporting the school’s international engagement strategy, with a focus on India

He regularly delivers inter-personal and business skills sessions, gives guest lectures, and provides mentorship and workshops to students at Solent University.

As Chief Operating Officer at UKESG, Lakbir manages a dynamic team that supports students with internships to enhance their skills and opportunities for wider employability and work experience, particularly on course such as Event Management, Film Production, Journalism and Global MBA.

He is passionate about supporting local businesses, promoting cross community cohesion, facilitating new collaborations, supporting local economic growth and in 2021, he was appointed an Ambassador for South Asian Business Community Engagement by the Hampshire Chamber of Commerce.

In 2020, Lakbir was awarded a ‘Special Recognition Award’ at the British Asian Awards, for promoting Sports and Education ties between India and UK.
