Solent University, Southampton’s second-year Fine Art students are exhibiting their work at Guildhall Square from Saturday 20 to Wednesday 24 April as part of their annual collaboration and contribution to the city’s growing art scene.
Introspective, this year’s exhibition curated by art students and housed in a series of re-purposed shipping containers, invites the city to step inside and experience a collection of artworks across a range of disciplines.
The exhibition will showcase the impressive skills of 20 Fine Art undergraduates who are refining their skills in sculpture, performance, traditional painting and mixed media.
Through their practice, students explore reflection within the artistic community, encouraging viewers to consider and appreciate the journey of young artists forging careers for themselves.
The second-year cohort, who have spent the last few months creating their artworks and designing this April’s event, say:
“Delve into the depths with us this April as we hold up a mirror and look within. This exhibition showcases a vast selection of artworks connected through theme, offering a window into the creative minds of our student community.”
Introspective is free to visit and will be open to the public Saturday 20 to Wednesday 24 April.
Fine Art students at Solent benefit from a comprehensive suite of facilities, with £1m invested in art and design spaces that enhance the practical skills of burgeoning artists.
