Help to Grow: Management Alumna features on BBC South Today

22 September 2022

Help to Grow: Management Alumna recently appeared on BBC South Today in a feature focusing on the current energy crisis.

At Solent Business School, Solent University we are always delighted to see our Help to Grow: Management Alumni making the news, and Megan Batchelor of Southampton based Focused Personal Training recently appeared on BBC South Today in a feature looking at how the energy crisis was affecting local businesses.

Megan, who recently took part in the Help to Grow: Management course at Solent Business School, told viewers of BBC South Today that whilst her energy bills had risen by 50% her biggest challenge was trying to increase staff pay in line with inflation, when it's no longer possible to pass on these additional costs to her customers. Megan went on to say that she had recently attended the government subsidised Help to Grow: Management course that was very helpful and allowed Megan to "think like a big business with structures and forecasts". Megan added "the people I met, the Solent Business School Alumni that I'm still a part of, support me and I can ask for their advice and vice versa."

Speaking before the Government’s announcement of plans for an energy price cap for businesses, Megan called for support with a reduction in VAT. Megan said that this relief should be "on similar lines to the restaurant and food industry recognising that day in day out our business is keeping our customers’ healthier, fitter and happier with their mental health as well as physical health."

Solent Business School wishes Megan and her business every success in the future.
