Associate Professor of Photography and Visual Arts, and Strategic Lead for Research
Department of Art and Music
Guy Moreton is Associate Professor of Photography and Visual Arts in the Southampton School of Art, Design and Fashion; and Strategic Lead for Research for the Department of Art and Music.
He is experienced in creative practice-based research in art and design, and has submitted to the University sector-wide Research Assessment Exercise 2008, REF 2014 and REF 2021. He has been an external reviewer for REF 2021 in UoA32 Art and Design: History, Practice and Theory; and he has significant experience as an external examiner on undergraduate and taught postgraduate programmes in art and design.
His practice-based research in photography and the visual arts has been published and exhibited internationally, including recent critically acclaimed exhibitions at the Fondazione Prada for the Venice Biennale, and the University of Chicago’s Neubauer Collegium. He is co-author (with Alec Finlay and Michael Nedo) of Ludwig Wittgenstein – There Where You Are Not and his artworks have been acquired for fine art collections of designated national and international museums including Southampton City Art Gallery, Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery Carlisle, the University of Southampton, and the Fondazione Prada, Milan, Italy.
