Eloise Miller

Job title:Account Executive

Employer:Exposure, Creative Communications Agency

Studied:BA (Hons) Fashion Management with Marketing

What has your career journey been since graduating?

After leaving university, I secured my first job at Canoe PR - a fashion and lifestyle communications agency where I had the role as an Account Assistant working across PR and Production. After working solely on outdoor brands such as Jack Wolfskin, Berghaus and companywide events I wanted to pursue a more fashion focused career which I am now settled in at Exposure as my current clients are Dr Martens, Converse, Superdry and Fortnum and Mason.

Did you feel that the course prepared you for going into industry?

The course helped me prepare for the industry as we learnt about all the different disciplines within the industry which is vital to understanding how all roles work together. Being able to work on assignments for real brands such as Derek Rose really gave me an insight into what employers were looking for in their graduate hires such as the level of knowledge and creativity that they will bring to the table.

Have you been able to use the knowledge and skills you learnt on the course in your roles?

Time management is one of the biggest skills I have taken from the course, having to manage three assignments is very similar to working across multiple accounts and making sure you learn how to block out your time and use it efficiently.

What did you enjoy about your time at Solent?

What I enjoyed most about Solent was having a great base of lecturers who were always on hand to support you and make sure that you were pushing yourself to the best of your ability. The course also opened my eyes to all the different roles I could pursue in the fashion industry, before Solent I had no idea that fashion PR was a profession and now, I couldn’t see myself in any other position.

I enjoy being able to work on such a variety of brands and helping them deliver the right narrative to reach their target demographic. Also being able to build such a vast network through attending various events such as press days, store launches and brand moments.
