  • Our performing arts degrees have a 100% positivity score for academic support (NSS 2024).
  • Solent is recognised as meeting Spotlight and Equity guidelines for drama schools and university courses. This recognition allows third-year students to join Spotlight as Graduate Members and gain full Equity membership.
  • Each year, students from BA (Hons) Acting and Performance and BA (Hons) Musical Theatre have the exciting opportunity to participate in an industry-standard showcase in London, featured on the Spotlight Performance Calendar and visible to casting directors and agents.
  • You'll train in state-of-the-art facilities, including dedicated rehearsal and performance spaces, recording studios within our Media Academy, and access to professional HD cameras, radio suites, multi-camera studios, and professional theatre venues.
  • Our facilities also feature Dolby Atmos technology, enabling students to mix immersive audio, with the chance to showcase their work on the Dolby website as part of our academic partnership with the Dolby Institute.
  • Our courses regularly host guest lectures, giving you direct access to industry insights. Recent speakers have included staff from TikTok, PRS for Music, Domino Records, and West End professionals like Earl Carpenter (Les Misérables, Phantom of the Opera) and Will Holyhead (The King and I, Curtains).
  • You'll be taught by a team of professional producers, composers, musicians, sound engineers, and DJs with extensive international experience.
  • We maintain strong connections with Southampton’s thriving music scene, partnering with top venues like The 1865, The Joiners, and Heartbreakers.
  • Our in-house media centre, Solent Productions, offers hands-on opportunities to work at high-profile summer festivals.

Take your skills to the next level with our industry-standard performing arts and music facilities.

Our performing arts spaces include versatile rehearsal rooms and a 64-seat flexi-form performance space, perfect for live shows. You'll also have access to HD cameras, radio suites, and multi-camera television studios to enhance your learning experience.

Our cutting-edge music facilities feature professional digital recording studios, audio production suites, and fully equipped rehearsal rooms with high-quality instruments. You'll work with advanced IT software suites to create, edit, and manage websites, music, magazines, podcasts, and videos.

Additionally, you'll have the chance to gain hands-on experience using Solent’s outside broadcasting equipment at live events, preparing you for real-world industry opportunities.

    Solent's £33m Spark building combines interactive teaching spaces with lecture theatres and an atrium with social spaces. Central to The Spark building is the futuristic Pod, which has a full-size lecture theatre and open-topped breakout space.
