Our courses are all about giving you real-world experience. You'll get to do everything from short visits to week-long events to get a feel for the industry. Some courses even have placement modules where you can spend a few weeks working in sports, health, or education settings. If you want to dive deeper, you can do a year-long placement between your second and third years. This means working full-time in places like sports clubs, health providers, or other relevant industries, which is great for boosting your career prospects.

We mix in-person and online learning to give you the best of both worlds. On campus, you'll join seminars, workshops, practical sessions, lab work, and guest lectures. Plus, you'll have access to our virtual learning platform for extra resources. We also offer guided learning activities to help you build your employability skills, bridging the gap between theory and practice.

CIMSPA stands for the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity. A CIMSPA-endorsed degree meets their professional standards, making sure you get the skills and knowledge that employers are looking for. This endorsement helps you stand out and be "work-ready" for jobs in the sport and physical activity sector.

An SST-accredited degree, like our BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Therapy, meets the standards set by the Society of Sports Therapists (SST), the leading UK organisation for sports therapy. These standards are regularly reviewed to ensure exceptional training quality. As a student, you'll get SST membership, which includes placement insurance, and after you graduate, you'll be eligible for full membership. This is a big plus for your career in sports therapy.

We’re one of 32 BASES Outreach Hubs in the country. The BASES Undergraduate Endorsement Scheme (BUES) recognises sport and exercise science degrees that prepare you well for the profession. Our BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science is BASES-endorsed, meaning it meets high standards for knowledge, technical skills, and professional development. This endorsement shows that our course is top quality and signifies that practitioners are qualified to work safely, effectively, and independently as sport and exercise scientists.

Our sports complex is packed with great facilities, including affordable gym memberships for all students. We've got two sports halls, a modern public gym, a high-performance gym, a teaching gym, and three sport and exercise therapy clinical spaces. You'll also have access to our BASES-accredited physiology lab and a biomechanics lab with industry-grade tech. Plus, our Test Park football centre has a full-size 3G pitch, a floodlit FA-level football pitch, and more.

Our physiology lab is BASES-accredited, making it one of the top labs in the UK. It's used by teams like Hampshire County Cricket, Team GB Wheelchair Rugby, and AFC Totton. In our biomechanics lab, you'll use state-of-the-art equipment like the Vicon 3D motion capture system, force plates, and a portable EMG system.

Our Sport Excellence Programme supports talented athletes through the TASS Dual-Career route. This programme is tailored to your sporting talent and academic potential, with a team to help you balance uni and competing. You'll get strength and conditioning sessions, sport therapy, psychology and nutrition support, lab testing, workshops, and up to £5,000 in bursaries.

Absolutely! No matter your level, there's a sport for you at Solent. We've got over 35 sports clubs and societies, from snow sports and sailing to hockey and American football. More than 600 students take part in sports each year. Some clubs compete in the BUCS league, and you can also play recreational sports in our modern complex.
